Meal prep: cook once, eat all week

Cook one batch on a prep day and spread it across lunches or dinners later in the week.

Meal prep plans one batch of a recipe, cooked on one day, that feeds several meals later on. A Sunday pot of grain bowls can cover Monday to Thursday lunch, for example.

Plan a prep

  1. On Meal plans, choose Select multiple under the week.

  2. Tap each empty slot the batch will feed, such as Monday through Thursday lunch. To use slots that already have a meal, tick Replace existing.

  3. Choose Meal prep in the bar at the bottom.

  1. Pick the recipe.

  2. Choose the Prep day. You can pick the day of the first meal or any of the 6 days before it.

  3. Set Servings per meal and Servings to cook. Servings to cook starts at what the meals need, and you can raise it to make extra.

  4. Choose Plan prep.

What you see on the week

The batch sits in a Prep row on its day, with how many servings it makes and how many are left (or short). A prep day before the first day of the week shows on the first day with its date. Each meal it feeds is labeled with the prep day, like Sun prep.

Everywhere else

  • Grocery lists buy the batch once, scaled to the servings you cook, and add nothing for the meals it feeds.

  • Your calendar link and the kitchen display show the prep on its prep day.

  • On the prep day, the dashboard's Today card offers Start cooking at the batch's servings. The meals it feeds are already cooked, so they don't.

  • Daily calorie and macro totals count one portion at each meal the batch feeds, not on the prep day.

  • Copy last week and Repeat a past week bring preps along with their meals.

Change or remove a prep

Hover the prep card to mark it cooked, or to remove it. Removing a prep also removes the meals it feeds. Putting a different dish on one of those meals takes just that meal off the prep.

Each meal's nutrition

Once you pick a recipe that has nutrition, the Meal prep dialog shows what each meal from the batch adds up to, after Each meal: its calories and grams of protein.

Prep day page

Choose the date under a prep card, or the prep on the dashboard's Today card, to open that day's prep page. It lists every batch cooked that day, longest first. Each shows how many servings it makes and which meals it's for, the ingredients scaled to the servings you cook, and the steps. Start cooking opens cook mode at the batch's servings.

Fridge and freezer

The snowflake button at the top of Meal plans opens Fridge and freezer. It lists every cooked batch with the servings still on hand (what you cooked minus the meals already marked cooked), its use-by date, and Cooking soon for batches you haven't made yet.

The Fridge and freezer list
  • Use soon appears 2 days before a use-by date, then Use today and Past its use-by date.

  • For a batch kept in the freezer, the dashboard's Today card and the kitchen display say Defrost tonight the evening before each meal from it. Your calendar link adds an all-day reminder that day too.

Whether a batch goes in the fridge or freezer, and its use-by date, are set when an AI agent plans the prep for you, for example "cook a pot of chili Sunday for three dinners and freeze it".
